Our Mission

Out of the COVID-19 pandemic, the education landscape had been transformed, Mon Petit Maringouin saw that as an opportunity to innovation with a virtual near-peer mentoring program. The intended impact of the program is to narrow the achievement gap and foster community engagement and empowerment in the Maringouin community.

In our short-term focus, MPM meets the needs of individuals suffering from severe learning loss during teh pandemic and who are on the brink of abandoning their educational journey. These students are identified by the teachers and staff of North Iberville High School and are assisted in homework completion as well as goal-setting for post-graduation success.

In the long term, MPM endeavors to to build capacity within the Maringouin community by providing extra-curricular activities for its students while emphasizing a need for community engagement through required service components for pariticipants in the program. In a practical sense, each pariticipanat within the program also receives a laptop and hotspot for internet access that may be kept throughout their tenure with the MPM.
